
DO stay calm, turn off the car ignition and turn on the four-way flashers if possible.
DO seek medical attention, if necessary.
DO contact the police, in appropriate cases.
DO cooperate with all emergency and law enforcement personnel who respond to the scene.
DO obtain the license plate numbers of all other vehicles involved in the accident.
DO obtain the names, addresses, telephone numbers, and insurance information of the drivers, as well as any passengers involved in the accident.
DO obtain the names, addresses and telephone numbers of all potential witnesses to the accident. Even if they did not see the incident itself, a witness may have valuable information about the circumstances before or after the incident, including the witnessing of statements made by the party at fault.
DO take pictures, if possible (even with a cell phone camera) of the following, as applicable, as soon as possible after the accident:
• The damage to your vehicle, and any other vehicles
• The scene of the accident, from all angles
• The surrounding area
• Your injuries
• The animal or product that caused your injuries
• Any other property damage
• The party at fault and other physical evidence.
• Debris, fluids, skid marks and other physical evidence on the roadway

DON’T subject yourself to further injury by waiting or standing in an unsafe area where hazards exists.
DON’T move your vehicle after an automobile accident unless it is necessary for safety or required by law.
DON’T discard any potential evidence in the case such as blood-stained or torn clothing, or defective products.
DON’T discuss fault with anyone, and make sure you do not apologize for anything. Those types of statements can be used as evidence to argue that you are legally at fault.
DON’T give any recorded or written statements to any insurance company, including your insurer, until you understand your coverage.
